Spring is in the air

We are so excited for spring to be here. The weather teases us and makes us feel like it is here.... But I'm hesitant to believe it. :)
But we have been taking advantage of all the nice weather. Here are some pics from a walk we went on. FYI madi dressed herself, headband and all. The flower is as big as her head! But it was kinda cute, and really funny so I took some pics.... Because that's what moms do. :)

True to madi fashion, she found all the puddles and was in paradise when she found a huge mud hole!

Even roxy went swinging! :)

So I thought I was being mom of the year and I set up a project for madi and I to do together. Balloons, glue and string. It started out ok, but my OCD kicked in and I was unable ( or just couldn't) to let madi do it her way. So she got to paint a balloon with glue instead. :) we both ended up happier.

Then I thought I was being super awesome mom and I blew up a few extra balloons and taped them to the ceiling to be fun for madi and Mason to play with.

Mason was even having fun, because I hung a couple balloons nice and low for him. That's when the mood started to shift.... And mind you this was about 1 min. after hanging the last balloon. Mason having fun with one balloon made madi mad.... Because all balloons are for her.... And then roxy got really excited and balloons started popping and children started crying and all balloons ended up deflated except for one that got taken outside and tied to the swing. Madi ended up in the bathroom with the door shut screaming that she was so sad, and now everything was ruined. Mason got distracted while standing and took a header right onto the corner of a drawer and ended up with a bloody lip, and roxy got booted outside and was watching from the window looking very sad.  It seemed like a much more fun idea than it turned out to be. :( ha ha ha but as I've learned from past experiences, my "awesome fun ideas" never really are that fun and usually end up with one or more child crying. :) and the really awesome fun moments come from unplanned spontaneous child creativity. Hence the empty boxes and bags that are the best "game" ever.
So hence the lack of pictures, things sped out of control really fast! Ha ha ha

Onward to Sunday and it was a lovely day that we enjoyed some nice sun time in our backyard.

Mason really didn't like the grass. He would stand for long chunks of time to avoid his hands touching the grass. And when he did fall or want to crawl he would quickly pull his hands up with the "ewww" face. :) so funny.

It's been awhile since I posted any madi'isms so here are the latest:

Mom! Do you see two madi's here? Then let me do my job. You just have to be patient. Do you understand?!?

*i realize that this little statement here is a reflection very much of my own parenting style. That being said.... I hardly string them all together like this! Ha ha ha

Panda and roxy doing the rounds and madi says, "panda sheesh! She's like a woman!!" And brian chimes in... Funny when she says it.
Ha ha ha :) funny people I live with

Well in the last couple days mason has officially started walking. Going about 3-5 feet at a time. But he is really starting to like it and tries to do it more and more. At his year old dr. Apt he was 21 lbs 11oz. 29.5" tall and his head was 19.5". So he is in the 30% for height, 54% for weight, and 100% for head circumference.

I will have to pull out madi's stats and see how they compare.

We are excited for spring and ready for it to be here so we can enjoy outside a little more! Madi has made a few friends with kids about the same age that live right on our street. It's been fun watching them play and have fun. I've never really lived on a "block" so I'm excited to see how it goes. Been awesome so far, hopefmy it stays that way!

Yay for spring!

Happy Birthday Mason!

Our little Mason Man turned one! It was a pretty good "party". I will be honest having done the first birthday party before with Madi I think we were a little more realistic and reasonable with what we should expect and do. So it wasn't a grand event but I think it turned out pretty good and was a good time for all involved. :)

He was a little cranky because there was no food on the tray...

Much like his Daddy he was tired of pics and ready for some yummy action.

Who puts a lit candle in front of a 1 year old?? Seemed crazy but with Madi's help we got it taken care of and no one got burned.

And all the waiting paid off for the little man. He very much enjoyed his cake.

The whole family!

Then the party became fun!

This might be my favorite of the whole day.

This is a close second.

Present time!

Madi had a hard time learning how birthday parties are not always her parties. Poor girl it was a learning experience for her and she had a hard time.

Our poor roxy has a bum limb. :( But she was a trooper for the party

Starting to understand what the pretty bags really mean!!

Here was our Madi meltdown... bound to happen. Poor girl

And so Mason played with her toys and they shared...

And then we were all happy again

And Madi helped Mason open the rest of the presents... or finish opening them...

They were both loving the new loot

2 family pics in 1 day! That means I can't ask again for a year! :) ha ha ha

Gram and Pappy with the grandbabies!

They looked so nice so we took advantage and took a few more pics

This might be the favorite toy from great grammie..... Madi is loving the animals and train from gram and pappy, so turned out to be a great sharing day.
Happy birthday Mason man! We love you to pieces.
He has 6 teeth with a 7th coming real soon. He is cruising around everything and has taken some steps but hasn't started walking yet. He loves being "chased" by dad and tickled by mom and madi. He thinks it is really funny to feed Roxy leftovers off his tray. He is a very happy baby and is easy going. Still loves to snuggle and give hugs. He still takes 3 or more naps a day and eats just about anything  you put in front of him. Peas are a no go though. :) He loves to eat what everyone else is eating and knows if you are giving him something different. He loves to climb up our stairs and will take off crawling super fast when he hears the gate open. He does the same thing towards the bathroom when he hears that door open. He laughs a lot and will act bashful if a stranger smiles or talks to him. He is still in his rear facing carseat, but not for long as he is almost too tall for it. Such a happy guy and we are so grateful for him in our family!
