They took roxy back to take an x-ray and check it out. Madi watched from the hallway by peering under the door.
They said nothing was broken but by how she was favoring it something was wrong so they wrapped her up and told us to keep it dry. Because of how much it had just snowed every time she went out we had to wrap a plastic bag around her foot. She was such a champ letting us bag her up every time.
She really didn't do much and obviously didn't feel very good. She just laid around and we would coax her outside every 4-6 hours to go to the bathroom. Poor thing would try and walk through the snow but it was so deep it was up to her armpits. Made it really tough on her. :( we tried to shovel out a big spot for her so she wouldn't have to trudge through the snow... But wouldn't you know it she still went diving in armpit deep snow.
Here is doc Madi giving her a check up trying to make everything ok.
She was very sweet with roxy and would pet her and tell her I was going to be okay.
I took her back this morning (Monday) because she wasn't any better and seemed more lethargic and just sad! Made my heart hurt for her. :( and when we took the bandage off she had a lot of bleeding. And her poor little paw was so swollen and puffy. :(
This time when they checked her out they said it must have been a puncture wound because of the bleeding and the poor pup had a fever of 105 :( so they kept her to try and get her fever down and giver her a couple antibiotics, then they have to probe her poor paw and clean it all out because the infection just kinda sat in there and festered all weekend. :( sad day for our little pup. I guess she's not little at all but young wee pup coming in at 60 lbs. anyways hoping they get her all fixed up and call us to bring her home today, but sounds like we might have to wait until Tuesday. :( hopefully I can add some happy news to this post later today!

No luck... It's Monday night and Roxy is still at the vet. :( They called early today to let us know they put her under anesthesia and tried to flush the wound. The vet thought it must have been a bite because of how nasty it looked... but because we live in town and have a fenced in yard she decided it must just be a very weird puncture wound. The vet said the skin was so swollen and irritated that she couldn't open up the wound to clean it because she didn't think she could get it back together. So they probed it to try and flush out the wound. They said the infection runs clear up to her elbow and is really nasty. :( Poor puppy.... They have her on some IV antibiotics and after they got it cleaned out they think it might be on the mend, but they are keeping her at least until tomorrow to make sure her fever comes down and she is back on the mend soon... Brian went to visit and said she's pretty groggy and lethargic, but he still got a few tail wags out of her. Hopefully we have some better news tomorrow. :)
On Wednesday we got to bring roxy home. She still has a little bit of a fever and is on some antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory, but is doing much better. When brian and madi went to pick her up she was so excited to see them she pittled right there in the hallway of the clinic. She came home with her leg wrapped again but this time it had some antibiotic cream in it.
You can tell she feels better! Tail wagging and ears perked up. Much happier. We had an appointment to take her back Friday to get her leg re-wrapped. We barely made it to Friday. She was chewing on it and obsessed with getting the wrap off.
This was my favorite! She would be sitting and start chewing and would be head bobbing trying to chew and keep her foot up high. Hilarious.
Roxy is back and our family is gettin back to normal. Her and mason have a special relationship and I think they will be good buddies.
This was hilarious and I was trying to catch pics but was laughing and didn't get the whole story.
They fight over toys a lot too. Mason is just starting to learn how to "fight" back. Little squeals and shrieks. Funny stuff because roxy patiently waits clamped down on whatever and just stares at him.
So this ends the poor roxy post. Finally on the mend and finally back home back to her peppy lil self. :) happy happy happy for us.

Oh man that is a bummer and so sad! I hate when the doggies get hurt so bad!
